Hey there! I'm Michael Bowyer. I'm from Arlington, Virginia. I was born March 30, 1971. My astrological sign is Aries and my Chinese astrological sign is the Pig. My friend Steve says I'm a bull-headed pig, but he also says I can play anything on the flute, so I've learned to listen to what he says no matter how crazy it sounds.

I studied music and specifically the flute at VCU and then at George Mason where I got my Masters degree. I like finding works for flute by little-known composers (especially recent works), working on them, and performing them.

I am a member of the Columbia Flute Choir. My friend Alix got me into this group in 1998. Through that experience I have met all kinds of cool people which eventually led to my joining Potomack Flutes, the Friday Morning Music Club, and the National Flute Association. "Flute Choir rules" so we say at Columbia Flute Choir rehearsals, "parties", and events. I'm also a member of the Flute Society of Washington. There are always lots of people and activities for toot-toot-tooting on my flute, that's for sure! If I could only figure out them killer bees!

In years past, I have worked for all kinds of places including Rosenthal Nissan Mazda (as a general gopher), Borders Books (Bailey's Crossroads), Foxes Music, and even Roy Rogers (with my best college buddy Nick). I have met all kinds of cool people at all the places life has taken me, and I have learned to enjoy everything that each experience brings.

I love movies, and can really appreciate a good film. I am a fan of the work of Roman Polanski and the work of Stanley Kubrick. I might even direct a film myself if the circumstances work out to make that possible in this lifetime.

Curious about the name fenwickforcefield and why that's the name of my website? Fenwick Forcefield is my imaginary friend that I've had since being a little boy. I lived in a house near South Fenwick Street in Arlington, Virginia, and I made up the Forcefield part. I have made this website to share a little of my life with you. I hope you enjoy it!
